Amb Omamo's Special Appreciation to Director
Defence Cabinet Secretary Ambassador Raychelle Omamo hosted a farewell session in Honour of Ambassador Issimail Chanfi, the outgoing Director of EASF at the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC) on 12th April 2017.
Change of Guard at EASF
EASF welcomed a new Director, Dr Abdillahi Omar Bouh from the Republic of Djibouti on 10th April 2017. Dr Bouh replaces Amb Issimail Chanfi from the Union of Comoros, who has headed EASF for the last three years starting March 2014.

EASF Bids Farewell to Danish Technical Advisor
Week 13 of the year 2017 saw EASF bid farewell to the Danish Technical Advisor, Colonel Joern Rasmussen. During the last four years of service, Col. Rasmussen (working under the Nordic Advisory and Coordination Staff - NACS) has initiated and supported a number of projects which have added immense value to further development of the organization.

The civilian component of EASF conducted a roster recruitment and verification exercise in Burundi from 13th to 16th March 2017 addressing both the EASF regional and the African Standby Capacity Rosters (ASC). The ASC sources experts for deployment at a continental level.

The Danish Foreign Affairs Committee visited EASF Friday 10th March. The Committee was headed by Mr. Mogens Lykketoft, former Danish minister and in 2016 the Chairman of the United Nations General Assembly.
Committee of Chiefs of Defence in Kampala
The Chiefs of Defence Staff met in Kampala for the 2nd Ordinary Meeting of the Committee of Eastern Africa Standby Force Chiefs of Defence Staff. The meeting forms part of the Policy Organs meetings that are conducted regularly to provide guidance for executing the affairs of EASF.
