Eastern Africa Standby Force Participates in Regional Counterterrorism Fusion Workshop

The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) participated in the Intelligence and Information Fusion Workshop: Enhancing National Coordination in Eastern Africa, held in Nairobi, Kenya, from 23 to 26 June 2026. The workshop was convened by the Africa Center for Strategic Studies (ACSS) in partnership with the African Union Counter-Terrorism Centre (AUCTC).

Represented by two officials, EASF joined intelligence experts, analysts, and security practitioners from across the region to strengthen collaboration on intelligence fusion and counterterrorism coordination. The discussions focused on improving the integration of information from multiple sources into a shared threat picture and transforming it into timely, actionable intelligence.

Participants engaged in expert-led plenary sessions and a multi-phase simulation exercise that examined intelligence analysis, the operationalization of national counterterrorism fusion centres, the development of standard operating procedures, and secure information-sharing mechanisms. The simulation challenged participants to respond to an evolving security threat by producing shared assessments, making critical information-sharing decisions, and recommending coordinated response measures.

EASF's participation reflects its continued commitment to strengthening regional coordination, enhancing information sharing, and supporting collective responses to evolving security threats in Eastern Africa.
