Uganda Special Envoys Hand Official Invitation to EASF Director Ahead of Regional MOOTW Conference

Nairobi, 31 August 2026 - Special Envoys from the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) paid a courtesy call on the Director of the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF), Brigadier General Ronald Rwivanga, and formally handed him an official invitation to attend the forthcoming Regional Conference of Chiefs of Defence Forces on Military Operations Other Than War (MOOTW).

The delegation comprised Brigadier General Peter Nabasa, Chief Joint Staff Operations of the UPDF, and Brigadier General Mcdans Kamugira, the defense advisor, high commissioner of the republic of Uganda, the Special Envoys of the UPDF Chief of Defense Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

 The conference was scheduled to take place from 5 to 8 October 2026 at Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala, Uganda.

The engagement provided an opportunity for the Special Envoys to brief the EASF leadership on preparations for the conference, its objectives and expected outcomes, while also exchanging views on areas of regional cooperation.

The EASF Director welcomed Uganda’s initiative to convene the conference and expressed his interest in continued cooperation with the UPDF and other regional stakeholders ahead of the Kampala meeting.
