UN Military Experts on Mission Course in Progress

A three-weeks' United Nations Military Experts on Mission (UNMEM) course, being attended by five Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) Member States in Musanze, Rwanda, will enter its final leg on 19th November 2018.

The course seeks to train military officers who will later serve in UN peacekeeping operations as military observers, military liaison officers and military advisers.

The official opening ceremony was seen over by the EASF Joint Chief of Staff, Major General (Dr.) Charles Rudakubana. In his opening remarks, Maj Gen Rudakubana thanked the participants and the leadership of their respective countries for having honoured the invitation to attend the course. He urged the participants to use the opportunity to share experiences gained over time as well as learn from one another.

The simulation based course reflects actual field missions meant to acclimatize the participants to real mission scenarios.  
 
The course, taking place at the Rwanda Peace Academy (RPA), has 21 participants from the Republic of Comoros, Republic of Kenya, Federal Republic of Somalia, Republic of Uganda and the Republic of Rwanda.
