EASF Director Hosts Finnish Diplomat

The Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Finland ‎Mr. Otto Stenius visited the EASF Secretariat in Nairobi, Kenya on 15 September 2020. The aim of the visit was to discuss the major achievements of the organization as well as its future plans.

The Director of EASF Brig. Gen. Getachew Shiferaw Fayisa welcomed Mr. Otto Stenius and proceeded by sharing the achievements of the Standby Force in terms of building regional capacity to ensure the readiness of the Force to deploy at any time when and if the need arises.

The Director appreciated the support of Finland in form of financial, technical and logistical assistance which has been received and utilized for more than ten years. “The support by Finland played an enormous role in taking EASF forward and being on the right track to fulfil its mandate effectively” he added.

‎Mr. Stenius expressed satisfaction with EASF’s achievements ever since it was established as Regional Mechanism especially its preparedness in enhancing peace and security in the region and beyond.

The Deputy Head of Mission underscored the strong bond and cooperation between EASF and Finland in capacity building of the Civilian as well as other Components of EASF. He also expressed his country's great willingness to support EASF in the future in matters of peace and security.
