Director Visits Force HQ in Addis Ababa

The EASF Director Brig. Gen. Getachew Shiferaw Fayisa visited the Force Headquarters and Logistics' Base in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 31st August 2020.

The aim of the Director's visit was to meet the new members of staff who have recently taken up their duty posts within these two establishments. The new officials are the Force Commander, Brig. Gen. Vincent Gatama, Col. Sam Kiirya and Lt. Col. Sylvestre Sekaramba.

At the same time, the Director bid farewell to outgoing officers led by the former Force Commander, Maj Gen Alaadin Osman Mirghani in absentia, Logistics Training Center Commandant Col. Chaharane Mogne, Col Mosab Omer Abdelgader Mohamed and Lt. Col. Samuel Langat.

Director Brig. Gen. Fayisa thanked EASF Member States as well as the Policy Organs for initiating the framework and structures for EASF as a capability for maintaining Peace and Security in the region and the continent as a whole.

The familiarization tour for Director Brig. Gen. Fayisa who took office in May 2020 included an overview of EASF assets which are stored at the Logistics' Base. These include a state of the art Forward Force Headquarters Start-Up Kit which comprises tented office and accommodation facilities meant to house an EASF Forward Force in case of deployment.

A member of staff at Logistics' Base takes the Director through the equipment which has been procured so far. This equipment ensures that a Forward-Force can set up office and accommodation facilities within a short time in case of deployment anywhere in the region.
